Astbury Mere Country Park



Astbury Mere Country Park, situated on the outskirts of Congleton, is owned by the Astbury Mere Trust, a registered charity, and is managed for the benefit of wildlife whilst being freely available for the public to use and enjoy.

Astbury Mere

The park occupies the site of a former sand and gravel quarry. The site encompasses 14ha of open space, with paths linking into the local countryside. The mere is used for fishing and water sports as well as being a haven for waterfowl. The site's wildlife interests include; mixed woodland, a pond, and extensive wildflower meadows, which are acknowledged as being some of the most biologically diverse within locality.

Astbury Mere Country Park

The park has panoramic views over Astbury Mere and offers a visitor centre, 2km (1.2 miles) of all weather paths, an easy access trail, educational services and an orienteering course.

The Visitor Centre is open daily from 9.00am - 5.00pm and has displays on the park and local information on green issues.
